This document is a guide on how much fondant is required to cover real or dummy cakes. It include quantities for round and square cakes, ranging from 4 - 12 Inches wide and 4 - 12 inches high.
This will be especially helpful when colouring fondant to ensure you colour enough, without having a lot of excess leftovers.
It is also helpful for knowing how much fondant will be required for pricing your cakes.
The guide is based in fondant rolled to 2-3mm in thickness and would apply to both the panelling and all in one method of covering cakes.
Quantities also include a 20% contingency to allow for minor variations in thickness, cake diameters and methods, so you will likely have a small amount of excess fondant.
